Thursday, July 30, 2020 – Our PA CareerLink Offices in Luzerne/Schuylkill Counties celebrated National Intern Day by engaging in the PA Dept. of Labor and Industry’s social media campaign. Our employers created posts on social media highlighting their interns through our State/Local Internship Program (SLIP) using the following hashtags: #PASummerInterns, #InternsofPA2020, and #National Intern Day. In total, we had 23 employers participate on social media including Facebook and Twitter.
In addition to resharing our employers’ posts, we shared blog posts from our SLIP interns on LinkedIn and 2 videos from our community partner Coal Creative which featured their reaction to our interns’ winning video for our inaugural SLIP TikTok Challenge. We also shared an interview featuring 2 interns at the Food and Fun at the Park Program at the Wilkes-Barre Family YMCA.

Lunch and Learn on Facebook Live
We also held a Lunch and Learn on Facebook live with Chamber professionals from the Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Commerce and the Schuylkill Chamber of Commerce. By participating in our Facebook Live event, interns were eligible for up to $15 reimbursement for their lunches that day, i.e. takeout/delivery in order to support local business.
