Hunlock Creek, PA— The Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Commerce held their annual Young Professionals Awards at the Garden Drive-In. The awards highlight the area’s best and brightest young professionals across 8 categories, plus additional awards recognizing a local business that develops its talent and special honors.
For the Intern of the Year category, three State/Local Internship Program (SLIP) interns were recognized as finalists for the award:
Desiree Scott, PCC Aerostructures
Erika Jenkins, ENX2 Marketing
Levi Sunday-Lefkowicz, EPCAMR
During the awards presentation, each nominee’s picture showed on the big screen against the night sky, stars glistening from above. After each nominee was honored, they announced the winner as Desiree Scott, an intern at PCC Aerostructures. Cars honked in delight at the announcement as she accepted her award.
The PA CareerLink ® in Luzerne County and the Luzerne/Schuylkill Workforce Development Board are so proud of all three young adults who made the most of their summer internship opportunities.
“During my internship at ENX2, I learned a lot about the digital marketing industry and had the opportunity to sharpen my skills with the amazing team there. I would say that I grew professionally by getting a firsthand look at the behind-the-scenes of a variety of businesses’ social media marketing campaigns, giving me an understanding of what the different industries best practices are in terms of how to market online,” Jenkins said. “I’m thankful for the SLIP internship program and I am glad that I was able to be a part of it.”
